Seeking Intern: General-Purpose Tech Developer

We are seeking a versatile and skilled General-Purpose Tech Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a tech enthusiast who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a diverse skill set, and is passionate about leveraging technology to drive success. The candidate will work with various initiatives and nonprofits, providing expertise in areas such as SEO, website development, technology integration, and basic programming.

Responsibilities:

  1. Website Development:

    • Design, develop, and maintain responsive and user-friendly websites.

    • Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and deliver customized web solutions.

    • Implement best practices for web development, ensuring optimal performance and security.

  2. SEO Optimization:

    • Conduct thorough SEO audits to identify opportunities for improvement.

    • Develop and implement SEO strategies to enhance website visibility and search engine rankings.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and algorithm changes to adapt strategies accordingly.

  3. Technology Integration:

    • Assess and integrate various technologies to streamline business processes.

    • Collaborate with different teams to identify integration needs and implement solutions.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to technology integrations.

  4. Basic Programming:

    • Write clean, maintainable code in languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and others as required.

    • Collaborate with other developers to enhance existing applications and develop new features.

    • Provide technical support and debugging assistance when needed.

  5. Client Collaboration:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their business objectives and delivering tailored solutions.

    • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

    • Gather client feedback and make continuous improvements based on insights.

  6. Stay Updated:

    • Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and trends in the tech industry.

    • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in web development, SEO optimization, and technology integration.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Requirements:

Duration:

  • Applications close on January 4th, 2024

  • Internship Officially Begins February 5th, 2024

  • Part-time work, expected to dedicate 8 to 10 hours each week

Compensation:

  • This is an unpaid internship. We are currently volunteer staff. However, depending on the success of Beacon’s podcast and flexibility in funding by end-of-year, a modest stipend may be available

Location:

This position is remote, with occasional in-person meetings or events that the entire team is invited to attend if they wish
